Fundraising and Deliveries
At the start of the summer of 2020, we initially set out to raise $500 to send nutritious meals prepared by Forest Hills restaurants to people in need in partnership with Queens Together. Our donors responded with astounding generosity in concern for supporting small restaurants and families in need during this trying time and raised $3,328 collectively!
Since then, we've been busy funding food donations to various organizations that help food-insecure populations in the community with the help of fantastic local eateries!
In August, we delivered 100 meals to Masbia of Queens Soup Kitchen from Pahal Zan.
In September, we delivered another 200 meals in partnership with the Reform Temple of Forest Hills to Corona Seventh Day Adventist Church from Mojo.
We ended 2020 with another delivery of 60 meals to Briarwood Residence, a temporary housing shelter serving homeless families, from Amar Peruvian Kitchen. This was part of Queens Together's holiday drive initiative to send hot restaurant meals to the homeless!
Many thanks to our SFHE / Queens Together donors for the funds necessary to accomplish this, and all our partners for making it all possible!
We're not done yet!
We are planning to continue delivering meals from Forest Hills eateries to families in need in the coming months, so stay tuned for more updates on how your generosity is supporting small business and families through the pandemic!
